February 20 2026 Newsletter
Dear Neighbors,
It was a pleasure to kick off the Subcommittee on Local Business Development last week with our organizational meeting and our first performance oversight hearing on the Department of Small and Local Businesses (DSLBD). We heard from District residents from across all wards about how DSLBD has helped small businesses, CBEs, and BIDs, and also about challenges faced.
I also attended a number of oversight hearings across my committees, including with the Office of the Attorney General, the Department of Buildings, the District Department of Transportation, DC Public Schools, the Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, DC Health, and the Deputy Mayor on Planning and Economic Development.
I look forward to continuing our performance oversight hearings next week with DSLBD government witnesses and on the Robert F. Kennedy Stadium Development.
See the schedule for our remaining hearings below:
- Friday, February 27, 9:30AM-1:30PM: Department of Small and Local Business Development (Government Witnesses Only)
- Wednesday, March 4, 9:30AM-1:30PM: Robert F. Kennedy Stadium Development (Government Witnesses Only)
And as always, resident testimony is a critical part of the oversight process and helps shape accountability and improvements across city services. While the remaining Subcommittee hearings will be government witness testimony only, other Council committees are still holding performance oversight hearings through March 6th.
All residents are encouraged to participate by sharing feedback on your experience and interactions with District agencies.
