JULY 26, 2026 NEWSLETTER
Dear Neighbors,
On July 14th, the Council met for the final time prior to recess. At the meeting, the Council approved my emergency legislation, the Certified Business Enterprise Program Compliance and Enforcement Support Congressional Review Emergency Declaration Resolution of 2026, which gives local DC businesses a competitive advantage in securing District government contracts, through bidding preferences and mandatory subcontracting requirements.
The Council also approved the Hill East Phase II Bundle 2 Disposition Term Sheet Amendment Approval Resolution of 2026. I am excited that this project is moving forward, as Ward 7 deserves and needs neighborhood-serving amenities, like grocery stores, hotels, and sit-down restaurants. I look forward to the Council returning in September so I can continue to fight for legislation that will improve our Ward.
And, while the legislative season is on recess, I am excited to spend the summer throughout the Ward, connecting with neighbors, conducting site visits to our small and local businesses and non-profits, and attending community events, like block parties and back-to-school giveaways. My office will be on a modified summer recess schedule, with our office open Monday-Thursday and closed on Friday’s.
My office will also be hosting a variety of community events throughout August and September and we hope you’ll join us! Learn more about what’s coming up below. Registration is now open for select events, and additional registration links will be available soon. In the meantime, be sure to save the dates!
