Dear Ward 7 neighbors,

Thank you to everyone who came out to this week’s Ward 7 Education Town Hall! We heard from neighbors of all ages, from young students to parents and grandparents, about your questions, concerns, and ideas. It was great to hear so many different perspectives, and I look forward to taking all the information we learned and hitting the ground running to build a plan for the future of education in Ward 7.

I’m also incredibly grateful for the support of our partners: Jessica Giles and Victor Horton, Executive Director and Deputy Director of the DC Center for Strong Public Schools, Dr. Marla Dean, President of the Ward 7 Education Council, Dr. Jacque Patterson, President of the State Board of Education, our DCPS students, and all other community members and leaders who participated. We couldn’t have done this without any of you!

And while last night’s conversation was fruitful, it was just the beginning. I look forward to having many more conversations on this important topic in the coming months as we work towards creating an education plan that truly meets the needs of Ward 7.

If you weren’t able to be there in person, or have any additional ideas, please reach out to my team. We want to hear from you, because this is our ward and we are in this together!
