STATEMENT ON THE 6200 DIX ST NE SHOOTING

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic shooting that occurred last Friday on the 6200 block of Dix Street NE. We have been in contact with the Metropolitan Police Department and have unfortunately learned that one of the four victims has passed away from their injuries.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and loved ones of the individual who lost their life, as well as with the other victims and their families as they face this difficult time. We are praying for the recovery of those who were injured and for strength and comfort for everyone affected by this tragedy.

Incidents like this have a profound impact on our entire community. We must continue to work together with residents, community leaders, and local law enforcement to address violence, support our neighborhoods, and create safer communities for everyone.

My office will be scheduling a public safety walk in the area in the coming weeks. We will also be working with the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Public Safety and Justice to create a public safety plan.”
