FY26 BUDGET SEASON CONTINUES: WEEK TWO COMPLETED!
Dear Neighbors, As we continue through this crucial budget season, I want to provide you with an update on the progress we’ve made. The second week of budget oversight hearings has now been completed, and I’m proud to report that over the past two weeks, I have participated in 16 budget hearings. During these sessions, I’ve had the opportunity to question a wide range of agencies critical to our city’s well-being and, most importantly, to the services delivered in Ward 7. My focus has been on ensuring accountability and effective resource allocation for departments such as the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), DC Housing Authority (DCHA), Department of Transportation (DDOT), Department of Corrections (DOC), DC Public Schools (DCPS), Department of General Services (DGS), and the Department of Behavioral Health (DBH). We’ve delved deep into their proposed spending, performance metrics, and their plans to serve our community. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the Ward 7 residents who have already taken the time to testify during these hearings. Your voices are incredibly powerful, and your insights are invaluable as we work to shape a budget that truly reflects the needs and priorities of our community. For those who haven’t yet had the chance, I strongly encourage you to testify. Your direct input helps to ensure that your concerns are heard and considered. Remember, advocacy takes all of us – every voice makes a difference.
