MOVING WARD 7 FORWARD: CONNECTING WITH THE COMMUNITY
Dear Ward 7 Residents –
I’m proud to share exciting news for the District—and especially for our neighbors east of the river—with the completion of the new Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health! This transformative milestone brings high-quality, comprehensive care closer to home and marks a major step forward in advancing health equity across our city. It was an honor to share the moment with former Mayor and Ward 7 Councilmember Vincent Gray who staunchly advocated for this state-of-the-art facility. The hospital, on the St. Elizabeths East site, will be taking patients beginning April 15, 2025, making receiving hospital care for Ward 7 and 8 residents more convenient, more comfortable, and safer.
Ward 7 also welcomed residents of the new Dix Residences, at its grand opening!
This April we recognize and honor Autism Month and Returning Citizens Month, as well as Emancipation Day in the District on April 16, and Earth Day on April 22. These recognitions serve as reminders for what we stand for and support, and they serve as catalysts for connecting us to each other with shared goals.
This month my team and I are focused on connecting with the community, listening to your concerns and feedback that will help keep moving Ward 7 forward. As a result, I am introducing a ‘Ward 7 Ride and Review,’ where we will periodically and strategically examine traffic and environmental needs in Ward 7 communities, and we’ve already gone out on our first tour! Thank you for continuing to share with our team about the issues that matter most to you.
